Rotary Day of Service for the youth brought oral health education and activities to 123 Grade 1 pupils of Bukal Sur Elementary School in Candelaria, Quezon, on September 17, 2026.
Through Project SMILEgacy, the Rotary Club of Kagitingang Cubao marked the birthday of its Legacy President and celebrant, Aileen Sim-Balintona, by sharing a celebration centered on children’s well-being. Her birthday became an opportunity to serve young learners and encourage habits that can help protect their smiles.
Children participated in proper toothbrushing demonstrations, received free dental kits, and were offered fluoride applications based on the dentist’s assessment. Fun games, quizzes, and storytelling made learning engaging and helped communicate oral hygiene lessons in ways suited to their age. These activities encouraged participation while reinforcing the importance of caring for their teeth every day.
The project was undertaken in partnership with the Rotary Club of Lucena Premier, Oradent Dental Clinic, and Sagaral Construction Services. Assistant Governor Alex Cruz supported the initiative by providing dental kits, helping children bring their learning into practice at home.
Bukal Sur Elementary School provided a welcoming setting for the program. The cooperation of its administration, teachers, parents, and School Parents and Teachers Association helped make the activities possible and supported the children’s participation.
